Aims of Sports Training

The goal of sports training is to quickly increase a sportsperson's athletic performance, particularly in sports contests, which is based primarily on his physical, psychological, intellectual, and technical abilities. 2. Acquisition of Motor Skills

Every sport requires a certain set of movements to do a given objective, which is referred to as a technique. When a method is acquired and mastered, it is referred to as a skill. Every time athletes engage in technical training; their goal is to develop skills in a certain sport. If we use gymnastics and diving as an example, which require more technical training than track events do, we can see how different technique training is from sport to sport.

The sportsperson is assisted by tactical training in the competition so that he or she makes the best use of their abilities, skills, and any external elements that are advantageous to achieve high levels of performance and inhibit the opposition from doing so. The increase in tactical effectiveness is thought to be one of the main goals of sports training since tactical training combines knowledge of regulations, tactical skills, and technical trading.

The personality of athletes affects their ability to perform in any activity or event to some extent, hence one of the goals of sports training is to educate athletes and enhance their mental toughness.

Education in sports includes:

                        c. Sincerity and honesty.

                        d. Self-confidence and optimum level of aspiration and

                        e. Formation of good habits.

Objectives of Sports Training

The main objectives of sports training are as follows:

1. Personality Development

One of the key goals of sports training is the all-round development of the sportsperson's personality because having a positive personality is important for competing well in sports and achieving the best performance. Numerous personality traits, including drive, assertiveness, and determination, as well as self-assurance, leadership, emotional maturity, trainability, conscience, and mental toughness, can be cultivated through sport-related education and training. These elements are crucial to a sportsperson's overall growth as well as their ability to perform better in sporting events.

2. Physical Fitness DevelopmentThe physical fitness of a sportsperson is a major factor in their performance. Every sport has a certain level of physical fitness requirement; hence one of the main goals of sports training is to enhance various aspects of physical fitness and skill-related fitness, such as strength, speed, coordination, endurance, and flexibility.

3. Skill/ Technique Development:  This covers both motor and fundamental movement abilities. The acquisition of sport-specific skills requires the development of fundamental motor skills. Every sport involves precise movement techniques that must be followed to complete a given task. Technique is the term for this method of movement, and when a technique is mastered and honed, it results in the development of skills. Every time athletes participate in technical training; they concentrate on developing motor abilities specific to that sport. The acquisition of sport-specific skills like basketball, football, gymnastics, tennis, cricket, badminton, and other activities requires the development of fundamental motor skills including hopping, jumping, skipping, kicking, throwing, catching, and striking.

4. Tactical DevelopmentThe development of various strategies is the goal of tactical training, which is based on an understanding of the opponents' tactics. Sports-specific training enables athletes to maximize the effectiveness of their skills and strategies, improving their chances of winning a match. Three different types of tactics offensive, defensive, and high-performance are developed during training. By giving athletes the knowledge of the regulations and regular opportunities to hone their tactical skills, we can improve tactical efficiency.

5. Improvement of mental abilities: Enhancing mental skills is essential for elite success in any sport. The training seeks to foster the growth of a favorable attitude towards sports and competition, devotion and dedication to a certain sport or event, sincerity and honesty, self-confidence, and the highest level of aspiration.
